Herbal safety guideline
Before using any kind of herb without a previous knowledge of it, please look for some information regarding its medicinal properties. Do some research or ask a doctor or qualified professional before using any type of herbal product. If you are taking any kind of medicine or prescription drug, please see a professional before using any type of products. Herbs have proven to be effective and work. Human beings have different builds, different sensitivities, allergic reactions and possibly different health conditions. The tips offered in this site are only a guideline. This list does not include information on possible interactions and contraindications regarding prescription drugs.
Should I see a doctor before using an herbal product?
It is always recommendable to see a specialist before using any type of herbal product. Nutritional supplements may not be risk-free under certain circumstances. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding or you have a chronic medical condition such as diabetes, hypertension or a heart disease, you must see a doctor or a pharmacist before buying or taking any kind of herbal supplement, and we do not recommend its use un any case.
If you are thinking of using a nutritional supplement instead of or together with a medicine, you have to see your doctor first. Many supplements contain active ingredients with strong biological effect and the safety of the product to all users cannot be guaranteed. If you suffer from any illness or sickness, this may be a risk to your health.
SOME MEDICINES MAY INTERFERE OR INTERACT NEGATIVELY WITH PRESCRIBED OR ALTERNATIVE MEDICINES
Taking a combination of supplements or using these products along with medicines (prescribed or not) may have harmful effects in certain circumstances. You must be alert to the indications and contraindications while taking them alone or combined with any other product. For instance, Coumadin (a prescription medicine), ginkgo biloba (an herbal supplement), the aspirin (a medicament) and vitamin E (a vitamin supplement) may act negatively in your blood, and taking any of these products together may increase the risk of internal bleeding.
SOME SUPPLEMENTS MAY HAVE SIDE EFFECTS DURING SURGERY
It is important to inform your doctor of the vitamins, minerals, herbs or any other supplement you are taking, especially before having a surgery. It is recommendable, in the case before, to stop taking these supplements for 2-3 weeks in order to avoid potentially dangerous interactions such as changes in the heart rhythm and in the blood pressure. This may affect the results of the surgery.
